WHAT I'D TELL ME TEENAGE SELF.

So this week I turned 20 and along with mourning the fact I will no longer be a teenage dirtbag *cries* I've been thinking about what advice I would give my teenage self.

Look after your skin.

Invest in skincare products. Invest in skincare products. Invest in skincare products. Trust me you’ll thank me for this, your skin is dry and becomes really irritated, go and buy a decent moisturiser and apply it twice a day- not just when you feel like it!

It’s okay not to be in a relationship.

I know that you worry a lot about everyone else having a boyfriend and that maybe it’s because you're not pretty enough or you’re not worthy to have one but that’s bullshit! You just haven’t found someone who appreciates your unique quirkiness, hell you still haven't but you will. Besides, you don’t need a boyfriend to feel happy, you can do this yourself!

School is actually really important.

Don’t take your education for granted! Try really hard and believe in yourself! You can do whatever you put your mind to and don’t let anyone- not even teachers, tell you what you can and can’t do. Prove them all wrong!

Those things that you think matter, really don’t.

I know that sometimes life sucks and you’re really upset that you’ve fallen out with whoever again but I promise you it doesn’t matter because you don’t speak to any of them anymore anyway :)  I know it sucks that you had a party that no one came to but trust me it’ll become a great joke one day!

Be your own biggest supporter and friend.

Listen to me- YOU ARE AMAZING! You often don’t feel worth much and are really harsh on yourself but trust me you are perfect the way you are! You need to be your own biggest fan that cheers on your success and tell yourself- I am a queen and I’m slaying this! You got this girl.

It’s okay to love yourself.

Stop thinking so little of yourself! You deserve to love yourself and treat yourself with more respect than what you do!

Embarrasing blast from the past 2- look at dem brows >.<

Don’t let fear and anxiety stop you from doing what you want to do.

Okay so I know that this is a biggie. You’re anxiety won’t just disappear and I can tell you it’s still something you’re going to struggle with and probably will for the rest of your life! But please don’t let it control your life, you often overthink situations and end up talking yourself out of stuff but just go for it! If there was one thing I would say to you it would be- go to your prom! Don’t let your fear of not being popular enough or being pretty enough stop you from going. You will regret it and will sit at home and cry. You are worth it!

Express yourself and don’t apologize for it.

You have killer style! We love being a little different and doing things that are a little crazy with our fashion. That’s who we are and it’s how we express ourselves. We look badass and don’t be afraid to wear whatever the hell you want and not give a fuck what anyone else thinks!

It’s okay to be different.

You’re weird and a little mad, but all the best people are! Don’t be afraid to be a little different and stand out from the crowd! You don’t want to be the same as everyone else and I love you for that. Keep being the individual you are and you’ll be just fine!

Oh and don't worry, your eyebrow game will get better. Here’s to #strongbrowgame

P.S What advice would you give your teenage self?

  1. Looking after skin and being single are so important! I wasn't single very much from the time I was like 16 to 20. Insane, I know.

  2. Love this! However I honesty don't think school is important! I had less than 50% attendance every year at school and I still came out passing all of my exams. It might just be me but I know from my experience. It weren't important

  3. I love reading posts like this, they're by far my favourite. I missed out the majority of my high school years, and it frustrates me that some people took it for granted.
