28 September 2016

This is my last post of September and this week marks the 4 month anniversary of my blog! I'm still very much a newbie to the world of blogging and learning every day, but I thought I would share with you some of the things I've learnt so far.

1. Timing is everything.
Since starting this blog I have become so much better at time management. Write your posts and schedule them in advance! I like to try to be at least two weeks ahead of myself. Having a blog has taught me about balancing my time efficiently, as I have been juggling my blog, uni work, volunteering and trying to have a social life at the same time! I've also learnt about when different social platforms are most active and had to adjust when I upload a post so that it can reach the widest audience.

2. Trial and Error.
Okay so I'm not perfect and neither is my blog! It's taken me a long time to sort out the layout and try different options to make sure that I am happy with how my blog looks. The same goes for posts, you have to find your own style of writing and the only way to do that is through trying different styles and seeing which one suits you and your blog the most!

3. Get yourself out there!
If there is one thing I've learnt, it's that Twitter is a blogger's best friend! Twitter is by far the best platform for me and I have been able to interact with so many amazing bloggers on there. Twitter chats are the best way to communicate with different bloggers and to find new blogs whilst promoting your own at the same time.

4. Research, research, research.
I am constantly doing research; through reading other blog posts, finding the latest beauty/fashion trends, keeping up to date with social changes. It's so important for a blogger to know what is happening in the world and what people are reading about as this can often influence your own posts.

5. Believe in yourself and your content!
There have been so many times over the past 4 months where I have wanted to just delete my blog and go about my life. I struggle with self-confidence so I have this habit of thinking whatever I do is never good enough- same goes for my blog. But what I've been learning to do is be proud of my little blog and not care about the amount of page views I have or followers on Bloglovin. I blog because I love creating content and sharing it with others.

It has helped me to become a more confident person and if there was one thing I could say to anyone thinking of starting a blog it would be - Go for it! Because you never know what might happen.

  1. Happy 4-month-a-versary! I literally hit the publish button yesterday after weeks or dithering and I feel happier for it. I definitely agree with the scheduling. I have this week's posts done and plan to do another 2 weeks to get me ahead of time.
