GOTH IN SUMMER?!

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate summer... well I don't completely hate summer! I just find it pretty difficult to be a goth in the summer. I am a goth. I wear a lot of black. There is one thing I've learnt and that is that the sun and black clothing do not mix well! It makes you hot, feel like you are melting from the inside and just irritated.
Is it safe to say we are now in summer? I don't want to jinx anything but it's been feeling pretty warm over the past few weeks and I've been finding I don't feel the need to go out wearing a coat. I am definitely more of an Autumn/ Winter girl. I love wearing black and I just feel I have more options in the Autumn. I always struggle when it comes to updating my wardrobe for the summer- I never know what to wear! The heat is not my friend- when I get warm, I get really agitated and just feel all round irritated and uncomfortable. The sun is also not a friend of mine. It's no secret that I am incredibly pale- I like being pale, adds to the whole goth vibe. However, having to carry around factor 50 and making sure I'm covered in suncream and reapplying at least three times is a bit of a ball ache. I wore factor 50 the other day and STILL got burnt! When I catch the sun I don't tan like normal people, I just stay red and look slightly like a tomato for a while. Another "benefit" of the sun is that my freckles have now come out in full force and I can never hide them all!

I would say 99% of my wardrobe is black, or some variation of black with white stripes. This is the single biggest reason I hate the sun. So the sun just doesn't mix well with black clothing- I remember back in secondary school they said something about black soaking in the sun whereas white reflects it?? I can't quite remember, I didn't really listen >.< Anyways, I am a goth and I will wear black till the day I die, so summer can be a bit of an issue!

So... I am beyond happy I have found this jumpsuit! The material is quite thin so it doesn't make my legs feel like they're being burned every time the sun is on them! I love the style of it and it's perfect to wear with a tee underneath or if it's particularly warm, to just go without! I love how this makes my body look and the tie around the waist highlight the fact that ya know I actually have a waist! It's also around this time that I have to put my Doc boots into hibernation and start wearing my sandals (Docs still, obvs). I fell in love with these sandals last year and it's safe to say I will probably be wearing these all summer! For me it's all about finding a balance. I will never not be a goth and I will never not dress like one- it's who I am! At the same time, I don't want to melt which means I have to make slight changes to compensate for the weather. But not wearing black is something I cannot do.

Jumpsuit- New Look // Striped Tee- Primark // Sandals- Doc Martens.

If you are a goth or black clothes lover then you will relate to the struggle of wearing our favourite colour at this time of year. The struggle to wear black in the summer is real but we can do this! Wearing black clothes in the summer is a commitment but I don't think I would have it any other way!

Oh, also I think I may have found my new favourite place to take pictures! I am in love with this ivory wall my sister and I fount and it's so close to our house which is a huge bonus!

Let me know what you think!?

Till next time,

  6. This is great, you do you girl! I love the shoes you are rocking in the pictures. I am a leggings lover - and I find it so frustrating when summertime rolls around and I die in sweat from wearing my leggings! I try to buy thinner material leggings around that time to make the heat not so horrible lol.

  7. I love the looks of the goth outfits you've styled, but strangely had never thought about how much hotter it is wearing black clothing during summer. I'm hope this coming summer doesn't get too unbearably hot. I'm wonder whether even black clothes might be less hot if the designs are light and airy enough. I'll probably start scrounging around for more loose-fitting clothes made of light fabrics myself.
Cute jumpsuit! I also love the ivy backdrop you used for your OOTD photos.

  8. I love how you've styled the jumpsuit with the striped tee! Such a versatile piece which you could change up over the warm months. I definitely have a lot of black in my wardrobe too so warmer days are super daunting!

  9. I don't really like Summer since I usually wear black skinny jeans or black leggings with some band tee or long sleeve so Summer it's hell for me (Hell today I took 3 time a shower due I can't stand the heat) but I completely understand your struggle and I love your clothing!
