I GRADUATED

So, this week I hit a pretty huge life milestone. I finally graduated! On Thursday I graduated with a 1st class honours degree in Primary Education and it was a pretty huge moment for me! I have changed so much over the past three years and for everything I have been working towards to finally come to this was just a pretty amazing and overwhelming feeling!

I got to graduate in what I would argue is one of the most beautiful settings! I went to a university in Lincoln and my graduation was held inside Lincoln Cathedral. It was such a beautiful setting, the building is beyond stunning and insanely gothic- which of course I loved! The ceremony itself went pretty quickly and I didn't really pay that much attention because I was preoccupied with overthinking about falling over as I went onto the stage! But I didn't fall! I managed to make it across the stage in one piece. The one downside to my graduation was that the weather was not on our side! It rained really badly in the morning when my ceremony was, which kinda put a downer on the morning, but it picked up in the afternoon so my family and I headed back to get some shots outside the cathedral. I had the best day with my family! We are entirely dysfunctional and slightly insane at times but that's just us and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Onto my graduation outfit! I was really struggling to think of what I wanted to wear for graduation. I panicked a lot over it. I don't have the same sense of style to the rest of my course and I wanted to wear something that fit with graduation but was also me! I then began to panic as I saw everyone else dresses and realised that the majority of people had gone for long, flowly, princess dresses. I definitely did not. My mum, being the incredible woman she is, told me to stop worrying and that this was my day and I should dress only for me. I loved my outfit. It was 100% me. I decided upon this beautiful short, high neck lace dress from free people. I loved the lace, the dress fit me so well and I honestly don't think I've loved a dress more. I brought these shoes two days before my graduation (I was pushing it for time!). They are easily the coolest shoes I own! I wanted to wear heels but I also wanted shoes that weren't going to cause me a ton of grief- that's why I decided upon shoes that my feet were strapped into! I loved the buckle detail and I received so many compliments about these shoes the entire day! A member of staff at the uni even said that I easily had the best shoes of graduation which made me so freaking happy because I love shoes! What I loved the most about my graduation outfit was that I feel it represented who I am. I was my true goth self and I loved it!

Imma miss my uni house!

So some of you may recognise this from my early blogging days haha! My family and I hate traditional photos and I mean graduation photos were way too expensive! So we did our own in front of the white brick wall in my garden where I shot all of my first blogging pictures!

Graduating will be a day I remember for the rest of my life and I am beyond lucky to have a family that support me through everything! I'm so glad that I embraced my gothness, even on graduation because that is who I am and I honestly wouldn't want to be anyone else!

Have you graduated this year? How did you spend your day?

Till next time,

  2. Ahh congrats! You look absolutely fab - that dress suits you so well. My graduation was on the hottest day of the year last year, so I just couldn't wait to get my grad gown and cap off! My makeup was sliding all over my face and my hair frizzed up BIG TIME, but I'm hoping my Masters graduation will be slightly better!

  13. Congratulations! Your dress is so beautiful. I've finished university but I won't get to graduate because my uni is weird and does graduation at the end of September, so by then I will have moved away and started my masters.
