WOODSTOCK 69

What?! An outfit post that features hardly any black! I know, I'm just as shocked as you are. However, there is a story behind this. So, I'm a primary school teacher and the school I work in have a summer concert every year with a different theme, some of the past themes have been- decades, the west end, the jubilee etc. The theme for this years concert is Woodstock.

Woodstock was a huge music festival in the summer of 1969. Being born around 30 years after this music festival- I had to do a lil bit of research! So the festival took place at the end of the 60s so the style was beginning to represent what I would have said was more 70s fashion. In our class we decided that we wanted to represent the hippie revolution that occured in the 60s and I don't think I could have found a more suitable skirt than this gorgeous paisley print one from Boohoo. It instantly reminded me of the kind of fashion I had been looking at during Woodstock.

This shoot pushed me so far out of my comfort zone! Black is the colour I feel the most comfortable in- it's what I'm used to and fits my personal style the best. So, deciding to dress up in an outfit where black wasn't the main colour made me doubt myself numerous times and I was still unsure about how I looked when I was editing these photos! This is also the first time I have owned and wore a maxi skirt! At 5"7 I'm not exactly either short or tall but I have quite long legs and a shorter body (if that makes any sense?!) so I always worried that a maxi skirt would just take all my height away and make me look a lot shorter than what I am. But even this skirt was slightly too long for me and dragged on the floor. Whilst black will always be the colour I go back to and feel the most comfortable wearing. I am glad I am getting out of my comfort zone because the photos turned out so well and this whole outfit shoot has a really cool vintage vibe which I am loving. Sometimes doing something different pays off!

Skirt- Boohoo // Bodysuit- Zara // Hat- Forever 21 // Boots- Docs

Whilst this wasn't an outfit I am 100% confident wearing and I think black will always be my go to colour, I am glad I gave this a go. Sometimes, you need to break out of the normal and try something new because you can surprise yourself! I am so happy with how these photos turned out and the field we found is the perfect backdrop for creating such a hippie vibe! I honestly felt like one of my heroes Stevie Nicks twirling around in the summer fields!

Till next time,
