GRAVEYARDS AND LACE

Yes, the title of this post was a terrible attempt at a pun for my blog name. You're welcome. So, you might be able to hint from my blog name that I love lace. Fashion has always been an area I have loved and enjoyed learning about, from different styles of clothing all the way to individual material. Lace is without a doubt, my favourite fabric of clothing and I always find myself being drawn to items of clothing that are made of lace.

There is just something about lace that I will always be attracted to. I find it a very flattering and feminine fabric that really compliments my gothic style. So when I saw this dress I knew it would be mine! I actually first saw this dress when I was on the hunt for my graduation outfit. I loved the style and I loved how it fit on. Long story short, I ended up choosing a different lace dress from Free People for a number of different reasons (you can see how it looked on the day here). However, I went back into H&M with my mum a few weeks back and saw that the dress I couldn't stop thinking had been reduced in their sale from £29.99 to £7.99?!?! I could have cried with happiness! For a serial shopper like myself, there is nothing better than the satisfaction of seeing an item of clothing you really want in the sale. It's almost like your patience has payed of and you can justify buying said item of clothing "because it's in the sale". I use this excuse pretty much every time I see a shop is having a sale but I mean, it's a sale! Sale items are just the best because you are saving money and getting clothes for less than what someone else payed for them and there is no other feeling that can beat that!

I recently discovered a shoot location that has instantly become one of my favourite places to shoot blog photos and I feel like this will be a backdrop to a lot of my outfit posts in the future! My mum has been beyond amazing with blogging and has been helping me out every step of the way- she takes all my blog photos! She recommended this place to me which I completely forgot about, it is an abandoned church not too far from my house. It's the ruins of an old church that has sadly been left to decay. It has a graveyard with headstones that I love reading as I'm really into personal history. I love learning about the people of the past and some of these people passed away in the 1800s. It fascinates me to think about the lives they had led and what their life must have been like. The stones of the church are slowly starting to decay and the whole place just makes for the perfect backdrop for my gothic style! I honestly love shooting in this location so much!

Graveyards and lace, a winning combination- wouldn't you agree?! I loved being able to combine my gothic style with a perfectly gothic setting to match!

  1. This is such a gorgeous dress! I have a soft spot for lace too and got really annoyed at myself for not buying this gorgeous maxi from Forever21 - I haven't seen it in stores since. This is such a good bargain from H&M! The only things I buy from there are Halloween items, so I might have to take a peek when passing by.
