MIXING ALT FASHION

Will I ever feel as cool as I did when shooting the photos for this blog post? Probably not. I am in love with this outfit! It's a lil different to what I would usually wear or even showcase here on my blog but I think that's one of the things I love the most about it! It's so different yet still very much me. The 90s have been an era I take a lot of my style inspiration from and I have never felt more like a 90s roadie!

I have always loved dressing up and putting different outfits together. I was the child that would always be in dressing up clothes (usually a princess) and I feel like that is where my love for fashion and fashion blogging comes from. I love looking at outfits and fashion magazines, where the outfits aren't typical of everyday fashion - they excite and interest me! So, as much as I love sharing my everyday style here on my blog, I see this as my chance to create outfits that I wouldn't get the chance to wear everyday. I love using Midnight and Lace as a place where I can experiment with different styles and fashion. Fashion blogging for me is all about expressing who I am and experimenting with different styles. In short, I still love dressing up!

Recently, I've been feeling the pressure of fashion blogging, in particular the image I've created for myself. I am a goth and I know quite a few of you like to refer to me as a goth blogger or as I was over the moon to read- "the goth princess of the blogging world" which by the way is the hugest compliment I've ever received, so if you said this then thank you from the bottom of my black heart! Growing up I would say I was more punk/ grunge than goth, so quite often feel like both of these styles are represented in how I like to dress. I never want to feel like I have to dress in a certain way all the time or that I should only be posting my more traditional gothic looks on my blog because that is the image I've created. I love my gothic style of dress! I love wearing dark clothing and channeling my inner goth queen. I just feel like its equally important for me to post all the looks I like wearing and creating. This look is more 90s grunge than goth, but still has my traditional goth elements such as; the black choker, dark makeup and PVC boots. This is one of the things I love about being an alternative fashion blogger- mixing different styles together to create unique outfits!

Now, let's just take a minute to talk about THE trousers. I have seen these trousers around and after seeing a few bloggers and Hayley Williams rocking a pair- I knew I had to have them! They are quite pricey at £44 but I feel like they are worth every penny! If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you will see the trauma I had to deal with when I put these on, bent down and my fat ass ripped the thread right out of them! I was gutted! Luckily, ya girl knows how to sew so I just sewed them back up and they are as good as new! Initially, I was going to pair these with a black tee and my docs- which I will do for a more casual day outfit. I decided to try and be a bit more "fashion" and create a more unusual and visually appealing outfit! I ended up pairing them with this red/black stripe off the shoulder crop top and my PVC boots to really complete my 90s grunge/ alt look. I am absolutely in LOVE with how these photos came out and I love the location we shot them in- I just think it really compliments the style and look I was trying to go for.

I am honestly so proud of this photoset and I feel like both my mum and I have been working so hard to improve the photos we shoot for Midnight and Lace. She even commented on how she was working on shooting "of centre"- I love how supportive she is of my blog and I couldn't do this without her!

I am in love with this outfit! It's very unusually me?! If that makes any sense to anyone! And I just feel so cool! Where's my drummer boyfriend at?!

Till next time,

  6. Your mum is excellent at taking photos! These look absolutely brilliant and that outfit looks fab on you (: when I was a teen, I was very grungey too. It was the music I listened too and the crowd I hung out with the the clothes just kinda fell into place but I was too young and naive and free spirited to worry about fashion. I just wore what I wanted & Camden market was my heaven! xx
