BURTON BABES: CORALINE

“Oh- my twitchy witchy girl, I think you are so nice, I give you bowls of porridge. And I give you bowls of ice cream. I give you lots of kisses, and I give lots of hugs, but I never give you sandwiches with bugs in.”

So for my fashion posts throughout Blogoween, I will be channeling my fave Burton Babes, starting with potentially the most sassiest and coolest child in existence- Coraline. I love the character of Coraline both the version presented by Neil Gaiman and Tim Burton. There are so many reasons I love Coraline but one of them has to be her curiosity and bravery (even if it does almost get her having buttons sewn in her eyes!). I feel like Coraline is a really good introduction to horror/ scary films for children and I would argue Coraline is just as scary as adult horror films- The Other Mother is truly what nightmares are made of! I love this book that much that I've introduced into my teaching and will be teaching Coraline to my class again this year! It's an amazing story for children and the film just brings this to life. Coraline is such a lil sass pot, which I love. She is not afraid to speak her mind and explore things that others might be too scared to. I feel like we could all do with a little more of Coraline's spirit.

This costume was fairly easy for me to put together, as I already had all of this stuff lying around. I taught this last year and all the children got into this funny joke of calling me Coraline, saying I was a mix of the film version and the book illustrations, so I dressed up like this one day last year. I honestly had a blast channelling my inner sassy child, trying to mimic Coraline's gestures!

Coat- Surfdome // Jumper- H&M // Jeans- Primark // Wellies- Ebay // Hat- River Island

I had a blast shooting this Coraline inspired look! I'm really looking forward to sharing my other Burton Babe posts with you.

Which Burton babe do you want to see me take on the most?

  2. This is such a cool look Robyn! I've watched Caroline I think once or twice, and oh my gosh was it creepy, it gets worse thinking that it's marketed for kids! Not many movies give me creeps, especially the once's for kids, but Caroline got me! I love that inspired look you created! <3 I can't wait to see what else you will create! <3
