Happy International Woman's Day! I have teamed up with Carter Gore to join their girl gang full of women who are fearlessly individual - who turn heads and are not afraid to stand out from the crowd!

Empowerment is a word I think about a lot. I think about what empowers me as a woman and as a person. When Carter Gore first got in touch they mentioned the phrase - Empowered Women, Empower Women and it's stuck with me. I've been thinking about what it is that empowers me to feel unstoppable and how I can then use and harness this to empower others to know their own worth - to stand up and say I am unstoppable, fearless and strong! I am a woman. One of the most courageous things we can do as people, is to be ourselves, even if that means being a bit different. I have learnt to embrace what makes me different and unique - it is what empowers me and I want to encourage others to embrace that to! I have always used my blog as a way to encourage others to be completely themselves, to embrace what makes them different because that it was makes you unique! I am proud to say I'm different - that I don't follow the crowd, am unique and occasionally turn heads!

This year I want to celebrate all the women who are different. Who go against what we are told is "normal" and march to the beat of their own drum because those women are freaking incredible. I am incredibly lucky to be surrounded by women who inspire me everyday because they have been the change! I am inspired by my two best friends Jess (Iamfoxxtailz) and Jess (heartshapedbones) because their individuality and personalities are one in a million, they live life fearlessly and encourage me to do the same. I am so incredibly lucky to have found friends that accept and embrace me for my differences! I am inspired by my mum who has always encouraged me to follow my dreams and supported every single step of the way! Who has accepted me and my weirdness  unconditionally - she is my number one supporter and I couldn't do what I love most (running this blog) without her! I am inspired by my two sisters who have fearlessly stood up for what they believe in time and time again, their hearts are filled with such kindness and they are utterly selfless in putting the needs of others before them. I am inspired by my boss! Who has been the most amazing mentor and showed me what it means to be an educator. Her passion for the children and always being a champion supporter of fighting for what is best for them is tireless and I admire her so much for that. I am inspired by women of the past and present - Emily Davison, Malala Yousafzai, Frida Kahlo and so many more for being champions of justice and being the difference!

I have never been the kind of person that follows the crowd or sticks to the rules! If I don't agree with something, I'm going to speak out and use my voice to be the difference this world needs! One of the reasons I became a teacher was to encourage a change in young people. I want every child to believe that they have the power to make a real difference in this world! I want every girl in my class to know that she has as much of a chance in life as the boys in my class. I want my boys to know that girls are equal to them in every way and that we should all respect people as that - people and stop seeing them as their gender! I want my class to know that they are incredible and strong as hell! They are a force to be reckoned with and can do whatever they put their mind to!

I am beyond honored to a part of Carter Gore's Girl Gang, filled with women who are incredible role models for female empowerment. This International Women's Day, I will be spending teaching my class and empowering them to feel as if they can achieve anything, that no goal is too small - that if  they are determined enough they will succeed. I like to think I am changing world, one mindset at a time! That I am encouraging my class to feel empowered and unstoppable!

Till next time,

  1. Oh I loved this post so much Robyn! This is exactly the kind of thing I need to read at the moment because recently I have been umming and ahhing over how I should be, dress, behave, seem at 27 based on a lot of societal pressure and me worrying about what others think when I should be empowering myself by choosing what I love and enjoy doing as my friends love me for me so I don't need to change anything - so thank you for this and you look as stunning as always! - Tasha
