MY LOVE FOR ROCK CITY

I feel like every town has a place that is iconic to them. Well, for Nottingham it's Rock City. Rock City is one of the most iconic and well loved venues in Nottingham and I have been dying to do a shoot in front of this epic location for the longest time!

One of the reasons I love Nottingham so much is the diverse mixture of life, history, art and culture. It's something I want to feature more on my blog. I want to showcase the parts I love the most about my city and what better way than to start with this iconic location. Rock City has always been the place that hosts the best rock and indie musicians. It's a cool venue for music and I am so stoked to be going to see Pale Waves when they come here in October. It's just on the outskirts of the town centre and has so much life and art surrounding it. Rock City opened its doors in 1980 and it has been host to the best bands and prominent nightlife scene ever since. My parents talk about the times they went to Rock City to gigs in their twenties and now I go in mine and it's just that history and love of music that will make Rock City such an iconic venue, times and fashion may change and it may be a different generation to the one in which my parents lived, but the love for music and live music stays the same. As the years and music scene has continued to develop and change, Rock City has changed with it. This venue has adapted to host artists from all different music genres, however, for me it will always be a venue that reminds me of the grunge / punk music scene.

So, I have been wanting to shoot outside this venue for so long now and am so in love with how these photos turned out! I love finding cool locations and this one has been at the top of my wish list for the longest time. So, I decided to put together what I would typically wear to a gig. So, what I've been learning about my style is I either like to wear the darkest clothing of all time or I like to try and find the most vibrant clothing. I had been lusting over these shorts, wondering whether I could pull them before I decided to take the chance and buy them and I'm so glad I did. I love the orange vibrancy of them because they are just so unlike anything I've ever owned. I decided to pair it with the tee I picked up at Slam Dunk last month and my trusty Dr Martens, which is definitely a style staple of mine. I really dig this outfit and these photoset is one of my favourites we have ever done.

Tee - Slam Dunk // Shorts - TopShop // Boots - Dr Martens // Bag - Dr Martens

Rock City is one of the most iconic venues in Nottingham and combines all that I love about the history, music and culture of my city. I can't wait to come and see my faves Pale Waves here and who knows who else! Let's just say Rock City will always be my home for incredible alternative music.

Till next time,
