TREASURE HIDEOUTS

Have you ever thought about your hometown and realised just how little of it you've explored? I have lived in the same city my entire life and yet I still sometimes feel like I've never fully explored all it has to offer. Like I'm a stranger in my own city.

For those of you who don't know where I'm on about, I live in Nottingham (yes I really am Robyn from Nottingham. My parents clearly didn't think that one through when they named me...). It has always been the place I've called home, even when I moved to Lincoln for uni I was still travelling back on a regular basis because I missed my city so much! I am definitely a fan of living close to the city centre and Nottingham city centre is one of my favourite places in the world. However, I've come to realise that there is still so much of my city that I haven't explored or even knew existed! Blogging has really given me the chance to get out there and explore the wonderful sights Nottingham has to offer and let me tell you - there is a lot! Pretty much all of the places we now shoot for my blog photos I didn't know even existed until I began looking for cool and new places to shoot photos. With the help of my family and being more observant to the place I live we have found some pretty cool locations - everything from abandoned graveyards and street art to forest hideaways and high rise car parks!

Being a blogger has allowed me to look at Nottingham from a different perspective and opened my eyes to all the different and insanely cool spots it has to offer. This week, I discovered a new little hideout. I was out for lunch with my family when I spotted this hot dog stand down an alleyway that I had never even noticed before! Unfortunately it was closed, but I did manage to turn it into a pretty cool location shoot. I've started taking my camera out with me in case we find any places like this and I'm so glad I did because it is such a little treasure hideout! It still amazes me that even after living in the same place for 21 years, I am still discovering new places. I love feeling like a tourist and getting to explore the place I live in. For me, blogging has opened up a new way of how I look at the places around me. I have gained such a bigger appreciation for landscape and architecture than I ever had before. I've started to look at the diversity of the place I live and to see how a place can be made up of such variety in how it looks! I love getting to find new places to shoot and I think this may be one of my favourites! I love the American diner feel it has to it but that it's also based outside and that it has tiled walls, which I have never seen on a building before! It is such a unique little hideaway that has really emphasised my appreciation for my hometown and what it has to offer.

If it wasn't for blogging I wouldn't have discovered so many little hideouts that have really made me appreciate and love the city I live in more than ever before! Even if you are a local, there is always something new you can discover about the place you live, you just have to get out and explore it!

Till next time,
