CLASHING FABRICS

Can we start talking about Autumn now?! Autumn is my favourite season and one of the things I look forward to most about this time of year (besides Halloween) is all the new Autumn trends hitting the shops. Bold fabrics seem to be one of the biggest trends this year but how can you choose just one?! So, I am making this the season of clashing and mixing statement fabrics together.

I have been waiting patiently, scouring the internet and other sources to see which are going to be the big Autumn trends this year. Autumn fashion has always been my favourite because I feel like it is something I can definitely get behind. Spring and Summer is the time for pastels, bright colours  and floral patterns which as you can take a bit of a guess at... is just not me. I struggle with fashion more in the summer. So, the second Autumn fashion hits the shops - I feel like it's my time to shine! This is always the time of year where clothing becomes a little darker, edgier and in my opinion more interesting. Looking ahead to Autumn 18, I have never been more excited about the key trends I keep spotting everywhere I look. The top two trends for this season, also happen to be my favourite two fabrics - tartan and leopard print. Now, as you probably have seen - tartan and leopard print are the two fabrics that dominate my wardrobe. I currently have enough pairs of tartan trousers for the entire week and leopard print has quickly become one of my new obsessions. I think, for the first time in my life I am... on trend?!

A huge part of my blog and the reason I love style, is that it makes a statement. I feel like fashion is how we express ourselves and is the greatest form of art there is. That is why this Autumn I am choosing to make a statement by clashing my two most loved fabrics together, bringing them to make one crazy, 90sesque statement! 90s style has always played a big influence in my own style and these two fabrics remind me so much of my favourite decade! When I first thought about mixing the two fabrics, I was really apprehensive because in all honesty, I didn't think it would work. I wanted to look cool and pay tribute to a 90s punk rock look but was slightly worried I would end up looking like a 5 year old who's mum had let them choose their own outfit for the first time! I mean, you might be agreeing with the second option but I have never felt cooler in this outfit. Clashing two bold fabrics together is such a fun way to take a risk and experiment with the rules of fashion and proves that sometimes rules are made to be broken.

I love wearing tartan. I love wearing leopard print. What better way to live my life than to wear them both at the same time?! This is my ultimate tribute to the fashion of the 90s and is the perfect way for me to not only experiment with different, more bolder fabrics than I am previously used to but to make the ultimate statement with my style.

Till next time,
