GUESS THE BEETLEJUICE FAN

Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice. Any guesses what my favourite film is? Yeah I think it's pretty obvious that Beetlejuice is my favourite film of all time. It is such an iconic film and inspires a lot of different aspects of my life.
Tim Burton has always been my favourite director, ever since I was a kid. Back then I would watch films like Nightmare Before Christmas and The Corpse Bride and as I grew into my teens and adulthood I got into Edward Scissorhands, Sweeney Todd and of course Beetlejuice. Obviously, Beetlejuice stands out as being my favourite. I love everything about Beetlejuice - the characters, the cinematography, the weirdness of it all! The first time I watched Beetlejuice will always stand out as a key turning point in my life for me, which sounds kinda intense. I never thought a film would have such an impact on my life or change how I saw myself, but it did! It was at a time in my life where I was really struggling to understand who I was as a person and who I wanted to be. I knew I didn't fit in with everyone else, I always had this sense that I was different and I never felt like I really belonged. I was trying to fit in with people and a world that just... wasn't me.

Lydia Deetz taught me so much in Beetlejuice and I really fell in love with her character and what her character stood for in the film. I associated with a lot of what her character was going through. Like Lydia, I didn't have a lot of friends, wore way too much black and felt at home behind a camera. There is a line in the film (you can take a strong guess at which line that is!) that touched me and has stayed with me ever since - "I, myself, am strange and unusual". The moment I heard that line it was like everything made sense to me. I was strange and unusual and like Lydia, I should be proud of that and not hide it away. Beetlejuice and Lydia Deetz taught me that it was okay to be different, to not fit in and to embrace being strange and unusual because that is what makes me, me.

'Strange & Unusual' Tee - Damaged Society // Striped Trousers - Monki // 'Handbook for Recently Deceased' Bag - KillStar // Jadon Boots - Dr Martens
I can not buy an item of clothing that reminds me of my favourite film - striped anything, bags, tees with any Beetlejuice reference on. I never thought a film would mean this much to me or that it would have this strong of an impact on how I dress! But, that's just the power of Tim Burton and the perfectly weird and wonderful world he has created. Beetlejuice forever!

Till next time,
